We only write to you about the beta and the launch.

The dictionary comes to your page.

On Android it floats over the app you read in. On iPhone and iPad it lives in your keyboard.

Questions

Is Kakikomi free?

Looking things up, handwriting, the full offline dictionary, grammar patterns and up to 50 flashcards are free, without ads. Pro is a one-time €3.99. Sensei, the AI teacher, is €5.99 a month or €49 a year and includes Pro. Beta testers get a month of Pro and Sensei free.

Which devices?

Android 12 and newer, and iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 and newer; the closed beta is open to both. Kakikomi was designed on a tablet with a stylus — that is where it shines — but it works on phones as well. On iPhone and iPad you draw in Kakikomi's own keyboard instead of a floating seal.

Does it work with Kindle, PDFs, browsers and manga?

Yes. The seal floats over any app. Text you can select goes to Kakikomi through the selection menu; text you can't select — manga, games, images — you read off the screen with Pro.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Handwriting recognition, the dictionary, furigana, flashcards and grammar patterns all work offline. Translation works offline too, once the language model has been downloaded — only less well than with Sensei.

What is sent to your server, and what happens to it?

Only text you ask Sensei about, or want translated: the sentence, or your chat messages with the recent history. Our server forwards it to OpenAI and does not store it. Conversations live only on your device. Details are in the privacy policy.

Can a school or a teacher get licences?

Yes. A licence key gives Sensei and Pro for a set time, on one device or on a number of devices. Enter it under Sensei in the app. Write to us for classes and courses.
